IVET is fully supportive of our teachers making these decisions. If there is doubt, if there is something you are particularly worried about, please do reach out to your school relationship officer and give them the opportunity to answer your question or seek further advice.

We want to continue to support our teachers and enable and empower our teachers to make good decisions during this time and to keep the IVET programs going.

I do know, again, reflecting as a parent, that a lot of parents will find it easier to support their kids through the VET subjects as opposed to some of the more traditional subjects.

I personally know for myself that supporting my son through Cert III in business is far less daunting than thinking about biology.

We also want to find ways where we can have our teachers network and share best practice ideas.

We’re currently working on how we can link that all together with a professional development strategy so that we can continue our connection with the industry and making sure we’re all aware of what our students need to learn.

I think the reality is the students are going to need, more than ever, the skills that you are teaching them. The world and economy that they are going to enter post-secondary school is going to be a lot different than when they started this journey, and the skills and connection with the industry are paramount to making sure that they are prepared, and the recovery of the Australian economy, and have them well set up to be the best they can be in these scenarios.

So, we’ll do everything we can do in order to help formulate those groups and to create an environment where that sharing can occur. But again, we encourage you to keep reaching out to your networks and keep talking to people as you would have done well before the COVID-19 situation.

Overall we ask everyone to stay safe, that’s the most important thing during this time, and don’t hesitate to talk to us if there’s anything you feel that IVET can do to support you and the journey you’re on at the moment.

We look forward to coming out the other side of this and continuing on with strong VET in schools programs and relationships.

We genuinely thank the schools for their hard work and commitment during this time. We know how challenging it is. Thank you very much!
